Born in Lithuania, Violeta Vollmer graduated in fine arts at the Estonian Academy of Arts and was set free by the end of Soviet dictatorship. Driven by the effects of globalization, living and working in numerous states on three continents and being a migrant herself, she investigates herself and a variety of materials and techniques (photography, painting, video art) to express herself on her continued journey. Her art tries to deconstruct the changing realities around her by grapping their icons to create her own narrative on segments of the global subconscious – thus transforming memories of her past into a very personal myth. Given that life is a drama everybody participates in either as a spectator or an actor, she does not allow herself to be kicked around! Acting as an artist she simultaneously acts a performer!
